SUPERSIZE IT! Oversized Sweaters

Stella McCartney, Balenciaga,and Alexander Wang

Boxy and loud sweaters seem to be a serious trend for Fall.  If you forgive the lack of sex appeal, these are some seriously cool pieces that will keep you extra warm!

How to wear it: Knitted, faux-fur lined or embossed with leather, the sweater is worn best oversized and with a pleated skirt and heels. Add a buttoned blouse underneath for a classic Cher Horowitz effect.

Where to wear it: A timeless schoolgirl look that works for day (bonus in chilly office settings).  Vamp things up with a bright red lip, motorcycle boots and leather gloves when night falls.

Graphic warning: Medium— the exaggerated drop shoulders and wide sleeves further enhance the supersizing.  Therefore, the boxy outline requires careful silhouette consideration elsewhere to avoid a frumpy grandma look.

Ferocious Fur

With Fall and Winter weather so unpredictable these days, women just might not want to go in for full fur coats, no matter how chic. So designers are offering lots of fur vests, shrugs, wraps and collars, all in fun fashion colors. Wrap it, tie it, belt it, drape it or hook it… but definitely wear it!

Tux Redux

When it comes to desire for a Le Smoking-hot staple, the tuxedo jacket is an instant classic that's a slow and steady burn.

By this early-autumn date, you've already got a bell coat, a little leather jacket, and plenty of cardigans. Feel like you're still missing something? There may be one more outerwear item you just can't live without this fall- the tuxedo jacket. Why this necessary addition to your well-packed closet? Unlike the ubiquitous cropped blazer, the tux jacket is cut slightly longer in the sleeves and body. This fit, plus the satin or leather-trimmed collar, adds a certain sophistication to the rest of your outfit. You can wear it with relaxed trousers, wool and leather shorts, or skinny black pants- but it looks sensational over short and long dresses alike. It's like borrowing your boyfriend's jacket on the way home from a fancy party- only the fit is perfectly feminine, perfectly you!
