For Spring/Summer/Fall 2013 designers were definitely in an "Empire State of Mind." Being a NYC gal, I love the urban chic fashions of seasons past and those to come that are paying homage to my NYC roots. I'm especially fond of the taxi cab yellow and checkered print offerings for clothing and accessories. Check mate! The largest collections of NYC inspired looks come from designers Louis Vuitton and Michael Kors and the aptly named retailer, NY & Co.
While Louis Vuitton took the checkered trend to the next level, Michael Kors went for a more classic approach. The collection at Louis Vuitton has a mod vibe with reinvented styles of the signature Damier print in bright yellow and classic black and white checkers on everything from coats to jumpsuits to dresses, and even shoes and bags. Michael Kors did not disappoint either with his Fall collection that features cropped jackets and wool coats, as well as skirts and pants in taxi cab yellow and black moto detailing.
Check out the looks below that pay tribute to the Big Apple!

The looks at NY & Co take a dramatic view in high contrast palettes of bright yellow, black and white. The collection features stripes, checkerboard prints and geometric patterns. Tame the powerful statement of these graphic pieces with a solid top or bottom for a beautifully balanced office-ready look.
