MICHAEL by Michael Kors |
Corduroy may not have the best rap—the fabric is known more for its durability than its flattering fit. But that hasn't stopped brands from trying to glam it up over the years. Gianni Versace dedicated his entire menswear line to corduroy back in 1982, but other than that its popularity falls largely on the shoulders of college professors. This season, designers took a stab at reinventing the material into classic bell bottoms, skinnies, wide-leg trousers, and even leggings. Michael Kors' printed skinny version is my favorite, but here are a few others to get you excited about the traditionally not-so-thrilling material.
Bootcut Corduroy Pants. As flattering as they are adorable, there's almost no excuse not to a buy a pair in every color!

Toss on contrasting textures, like a cashmere crewneck sweater or a tweed blazer for a suiting look.

Flared-Leg Corduroys. Get some 70s flare in a pair high-waisted cords with a bell bottom your mom would be proud of. When choosing a super-flared pant, stick to a basic shade since these pants make enough of a statement on their own.
