This week temperatures have risen to the mid 60s in NYC and I must admit I have Spring fever. It’s no secret that I love the milder seasons (Fall & Spring) and I typically put more focus on them, fashionably speaking. Plus this is usually the time of year when I’m “over” the Winter season. So I've decided to ease into Spring with one of the season's most fashionable colors. It’s been called buff, petal, ballet slipper, pale pink… and now for 2013 – Blush. It's the shade between nude and pink and is the quintessential Spring color. It’s a more modern take on the usual pastel palette of the past Spring seasons – not to mention an interesting alternative to bold colors like Pantone’s color of the year – Emerald Green.
What I’m really liking about this pale hue is its soft undertone that helps it work as a neutral, but in a very sophisticated way. Being swathed in this effortlessly chic color also evokes a certain quality of innocence. Blush looks great with light makeup and can be dressed down with denim or dressed up with white and bronze to give the sugary colors a sleek and professional feel. I especially love the gold and blush color combo. Gold may be festive and perfect for the holidays, but when paired with a nude palette, like sweet blush tones, it's trendy and chic.

Forget your girly past of playing with Barbies, the color pink has grown up too and it’s making a bold statement this season with the incarnation of Blush. Stylish and sophisticated, whilst pretty and soft - these are a couple of my favorite blush things...
