Lace shorts are one of the hottest new trends on the streets for Summer 2013 and it’s a controversial one to say the least. That’s partly because these shorts look less like acceptable streetwear and more like something you dug out of your kinky grandma’s closet! However, if you can get past the risqué factor of these shorts, they can be the best fashion find. Here’s a quick guide to making lace shorts work for you.
How to pick the perfect color for your lace shorts?
Black, navy, white, ivory and any other shade of white that you may fancy are ideal for lace shorts. Brightly colored lace shorts could be mistaken for lingerie so tread lightly with these.
How bold to go?
Ideally, your lace shorts should begin just an inch below the naval and go to a few inches above your upper thigh. (This is the perfect length because they will still cover you even when you bend down!) Also, most lace shorts come with a lining, but you can choose shorts that feature a stretch of lace that spills over the lining for a sheer look that still protects your modesty.
Bare legs vs. tights covered legs
If you are the mistress of perfectly slender, flab-free toned legs, you should wear your lace shorts without pantyhose or leggings. However, if you have the slightest hint of cellulite on your thighs, you can wear a pair of sheer tights under your shorts to get the most sexiness out of the look.
Should you pair lace shorts with a lace top?
Never. Pairing a lace top with lace shorts distracts from the raciness of the shorts themselves and the overall appearance might end up looking more like a boxy dress than separates with clearly defined silhouettes.
