Melissa for J. Crew |
Ah, jelly shoes. The most ubiquitous sandal during the '90s. Cute and colorful and made of PVC plastic, these shoes are making a huge comeback this Summer. I have a special place in my heart for jelly sandals, although I must admit I haven't worn a pair since 1993. They remind me of Summers during my childhood-back when you just had to have a pair to wear with your Summer dresses. Well, jelly sandals as we know them have grown up. These aren't your average jellies, though. They're sleek enough to pass muster at work with a pleated knee-length or full length skirt and a cotton blouse and they're commuter-comfortable when the heat is on. Plus these sturdy PVC shoes are relatively inexpensive and they will last you more than a few seasons. Here are some of my favorite looks with a modern and mature take on the classic jelly.
