I know it's only August and you're probably still thinking about wearing your swimsuits for at least another month, but as we transition into the chillier autumn weather, darker, richer hues take center stage as neons and pastels of summertime go into storage. This Fall, it’s all about burgundy! Burgundy shoes, scarves, sweaters, hats, dresses, lips, nails… the list goes on!
In redder shades, it's oxblood, in brighter purple tinges, it's a sultry merlot. Call it maroon, wine, eggplant, bordeaux, or reddish-purple- this deep, rich red is gaining status as the new statement color. Whatever you call it; this dark, sultry shade has been taking the streets (and the racks!) by storm. Fall’s burgundy trend is so pervasive that the rich, wine color is being called “the new black." It looks great on most complexions and blends seamlessly into any wardrobe.
Burgundy goes great with neutrals like navy, grey, black, white, and camel. My personal favorite combo is the burgundy and camel. To offset the sensuous tone, style your favorite burgundy staples with equally cool camel-colored pieces. It's a match-up that works, no matter the occasion or the person wearing it. If you're a classicist, pair a camel peacoat with leather coated burgundy skinny jeans. If you're more of a bohemian girl, go for the combo of a chunky knit sweater dress and burgundy leather boots. If you're a polished professional through and through, then chances are you'll love the duo of a slick burgundy pencil skirt and fitted peplum sweater. Bottom line: this color combo deserves a test drive. Call this dramatic red whatever you want- just make sure you're wearing it this Fall!
