Toughen Up With Your Perfect Leather Pants

Chloe

Whether you wear them mild or wild, these buttery soft bottoms (real or faux) are shorthand for laid-back cool.

Take Your Pick...

1. The Trousers- Rocker look not your thing? Consider a slouchy shape, which has a sporty minimalist feel that's easy to dress up.  Just add a sleek pastel top, a streamlined boyfriend coat and white sneakers.

2. The Jeans- Not such a departure from your favorite denims, this is the perfect cut to ease you into the leather trend.  Style them as you would your most prized Levi's, with a front-tucked white or vintage T.  The effect is elevated casual.

3. The Leggings- Channel your inner off-duty model with a version that fits like a second skin (but remember stretch is your friend!).  Concerned about over-sharing your assets? Try a bum-covering oxford shirt or knit top. Black ankle boots bring the tough-girl vibe full circle.

Face Time With Gucci

Industry insiders will argue that makeup is as important as accessories- and to me, fashion cannot exist without it.  That's why I'm thrilled about the arrival of Gucci's first cosmetics line, which is absolutely stunning!

What do you get when Gucci's creative director Frida Giannini joins forces with makeup-artist royalty Pat McGrath? One of the most ridiculously glamorous cosmetic collections you've ever seen with 200 OMG options from nail polishes to makeup brushes. When Giannini pulled fabric swatches from the Gucci archives for inspiration, she zeroed in on six anchoring colors that run through the line: gold, black, red, bronze, copper, and vivid peacock, ottanio (Italian for teal). "The iconic colors are really the colors Frida loved," says McGrath. Here are some of the line's standouts and don't worry- there are several more where these came from!

Supersize Your Blazer

Reed Krakoff
Hermes

Reed Krakoff

Menswear-inspired blazers are back in a big way, literally.  With built in tailored attitude, this latest crop is roomier and sharper, featuring defined shoulders (square or rounded) and an appealing hip and butt-covering length.  The strong silhouette is more assertive than "boyfriend dressing"- this woman doesn't need to borrow anyone's clothes.

How to Wear it...

1. This time around, forgo the cigarette pants.  Balance proportions with slouchy trousers and or a boxy midi-skirt.

2. Crafted from lighter wools and crepes, this blazer is all about the drape; go for stream-lined pairings like a silk blouse, or for evenings, skip that layer and show some skin.

Three Ways to Style a Denim Pencil Skirt

If you haven't sported a jean skirt since middle school, that's about to change thanks to the slim-fit knee-length styles showing up on well-dressed stars like Olivia Palermo (in Black Orchid).  To look extra of-the-moment, choose one that's slightly distressed, and pair it with a chambray shirt like Palermo did at NYFW. Check out the looks below for three different ways to rock your denim pencil skirt.

Louisa & Pookie Burch for Trademark

Just because they're new on the scene doesn't mean they're naive.  Today's young talents are starting out with chic clothes, smart pieces and no-nonsense business plans.  Louisa & Pookie Burch, daughters of Chris Burch (ex-husband of designer Tory Burch), are the creative minds behind the new Trademark brand.  When thinking of names for their label, these designer-sisters wanted to evoke the qualities of classic sportswear: simplicity and timelessness.  Nothing is more straightforward than "Trademark," which takes wardrobe staples and streamlines them to look sharper.  "We think about functionality, says Pookie.  "I have nostalgia for clothes that make you look pulled together."  The first ever Trademark boutique will be opening it's doors in New York's SoHo district soon, but for now you can shop the collection online at www.trade-mark.com.  Take a peek below at some of the standout pieces from the Fall 2014 lookbook and discover why these sisters are designers to bank on!
