Every year since 1990, the Pantone Color Institute has nominated a Color of the Year, forecasting which specific hue designers and consumers will all supposedly be using, wearing, and buying for the following 12 months. Last month, Pantone announced that the 2015 Color of the Year is Marsala.
According to the leading color authority "Marsala makes for an elegant grounded statement color when worn on its own or as a strong accent piece to many other colors." This rich brownish-red earthy hue pairs especially well with warm taupes and greys, lilac, greens, golden yellows, and turquoise and teal for a dramatic effect.
While some critics have called the color down-right "icky," I think it's quite wearable and my selections below are proof that there's a Marsala for everyone (and no, I'm not talking about wine!).
