If, like me, you were a kid during the 90s, you may remember jellies.
The slimy, see-through sandals were the coolest accessory for a brief,
shining moment in between grunge and flower-print maxi dresses. Now,
designers like Burberry, Lanvin, Stella McCartney, and Valentino
are revisiting the idea of transparent accessories, and let’s just say
that your old jellies have gotten a pristine, elegant makeover.
Clear accessories made out of PVC and lucite were as prevalent on the spring runways as they are at your local stripclub. Well, not exactly- that was just my attempt at a
really bad joke. My advice? Pass on the lucite platforms and poorly-made see through totes and shop for pieces in classic shapes instead. Just remember the contents of your bag are about to become as important as the bag itself. So, to pull off this look it’s probably best to clear out the clutter and store most of your necessities in a pretty pouch that fits inside- after all no one wants to see your tampons or, heaven forbid, your contraband!
