A Little Bit Country

I may be a city-folk, but that doesn't mean I can't conjure up a look that's fitting for my imaginary country cousin.  She's got a homespun look that's marked by cropped jeans, denim shorts, gingham print, floral corsets, white sundresses, and suede ankle booties for a breezy Summer look.  I love this look because, simply put, "it's Summertime and the livin is easy."  What better season to kick back in clothes that travel from backyard BBQ to urban flea market to music festival with ease?

Don't think you can do country?  Well, you can!  Here are some tips for how to pull it off.

1. Give it edge.  If the country vibe is too wholesome for you add an element of rock 'n' roll.  Wear leather shorts with a plaid top or ankle boots with a floral dress.

2. There is something girly about eyelet, gingham, cotton, and denim.  But if you aren't a girly girl, don't fret because it's possible to pull off a country inspired look while steering clear of rosebuds and ruffles.  For instance, a tailored blazer or white trousers can keep a plaid or checkered shirt chic.
