The Hottest Flat Sandals for Spring

Christian Louboutin

Take a cue from resort 2014’s essential footwear trends and slip into something more comfortable this spring.  Along with pastels, pointy-toe flats and cropped tops, another hot trend spotted on the spring runways was flat leather sandals. (shh...Don't tell high-heel-loving Victoria Beckham, OK?) YES, some of the hottest and edgiest designers showed us this season that flats don't have to be practical and snoozy.

I love flat sandals not only because they're comfortable to wear, but also because the right sandal can be worn with everything from casual shorts to evening dresses.  Traditional colors like black and tan continue to be popular, but neutrals like white, gold and silver are just as versatile and can be combined with different outfits. Of course, neon colored and snakeskin ones are also hot for spring and are sure to get you noticed.  But, it's the elegant embellished flats that are absolutely stunning; you can go for rhinestones, flower appliques, gold studs, and so on.  Shop my picks below and cruise into spring with comfort and style!

High school standards- in this case- a varsity inspired jacket and a pleated skirt- look way more adult when paired with this sophisticated top and sleek riding boots.

Uptown polish meets downtown attitude: the 24k top breaks the ice between a comfy fave (distressed cropped jeans) and an elegant classic (a tailored camel coat).  Beige pointy-toe pumps and a structured sage green bag help pull it altogether.

Michael Kors Spring/Summer '14 Collection

Winter doldrums got you down? You're in luck because on today's theme of all things warm I bring to you the Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2014 collection.  It's no secret that I love all things MK- I've been sporting the bags, shoes, jewelry and clothes for as long as I can remember and this year will be no exception.  I am absolutely obsessed with this collection, which is all about the juxtaposition of something romantic with something polished- think feminine pieces with sharply tailored menswear-inspired touches.  The clothes have echoes of the forties (vintage prints) and the seventies (high-waisted flared pants), but this is one case where looking back didn't produce retro results.  Every piece in the collection is extremely modern.   Below I have selected my favorite runway looks from last September's NYFW, ranging from textured snakeskin and lace to leg-revealing slit skirts to cozy cashmere cardigans and fluid dresses in demure polka dots and florals.  Topping off each look are peanut colored clutches, satchels and skinny belts, which are the perfect finishing touches for today's modern woman!
