Get the Fuzz: Mohair

Armani, Celine, Angelo Marani

In the new cold season, designers are determined to protect the connoisseurs of fashion from frost by offering several furry trends. One of them is mohair - a cozy yarn and woven fabric made of fur of Angora goats. The Fall/Winter 2013-2014 runway collections presented a lot of different models of mohair for every taste, including some pretty extravagant and unusual solutions.  Making a huge comeback this Fall, mohair appeared on almost anything, from sweaters and dresses to even coats and pants. This cool alternative to fur was present in boldly colored and printed collections of almost every designer, including: Céline, Armani, Pucci and Alexander Wang, just to name a few.

Coats made of mohair are one of the highlights of the season.

The most extravagant and daring use of this material is displayed in pants, suits and even dresses. Mohair has a bright texture and for Fall/Winter 2013-2014 the designers often combine it with fur, leather and knitted fabrics, like wool.

On trend with the season's hottest hues, popular colors of mohair include black and white, soft and pastel candy colors- especially pink, blue and lavender- and vivid jewel tones – emerald green, bright red, blue and burgundy.  Among the most popular prints are check and various geometric patterns, abstract, animal and floral print.

The Amazing Lace

Alberta Ferretti

No need to get lost in layers this Fall, for the latest trend is one of transparency.  It's all about lace this season with the delicate fabric landing on everything from colorful dresses to sexy metallic pencil skirts.  Lace is eternally chic....especially in pastel and jewel tones.

Alberta Ferretti displayed beautiful interpretations of the trend on it's Autumn 2013/Winter 2014 runways by using transparent lace to reveal modestly a little of the chest, sleeves and legs. A veritable display of elegance, sophistication and whimsicality marked the show as the designer chose to reflect the world of romance and seduction.  A series of spectacular elegant ensembles exuded femininity and excited imagination, despite their subtlety.  These flowing fabrics, intricate details, and the melange of simplicity and daintiness are enough to make any girl's heart melt, regardless of whether she defines herself as a tomboy or a girly girl.

Do not fret if you are wary of the transparent lace trend- the new season isn't as flashy and conspicuous as previous ones.  So go ahead and experiment with more discreet displays of the motifs you love while still tackling the latest trend with confidence.

This Fall will have you in stitches with these great ways to incorporate lace into your wardrobe.
