East Meets West: Oriental Opulence

Prada

Fashion looked east for Spring/Summer '13 as oriental inspired clothing weaved romance, femininity, and exoticism across the runways.  From obi belts and reconstructed kimono styles to mandarin collars and chinoiserie prints, Eastern inspiration is in the air. Like all of the season's trends, the love of the East is all about print mixing, but don't worry I promise these styles won't have you stepping out of the house looking like you're headed to a Geisha costume party.

Prints are the key to this trend.  From dragons to flowers to cranes, rich brocades, or simple printed cotton, it doesn't matter as long as the mood is exotic and the theme is strong.  Even better is taking prints and clashing them fearlessly!

This season's oriental fashion trend has a bit of a Western flair with figure-hugging silk dresses with Mandarin collars, kimono style sleeves and silk knot buttons.  The Spring/Summer looks expanded even beyond these interpretations of oriental style to marry the feminine and androgynous with effortless opulence.  Check out the looks below from Ethro, Fausto Puglisi, Pucci, and Gucci.  They certainly make a statement of glamour, sophistication and edge with an Asian-vibe.
