Color Crash Course: Mint

Burberry

Forecasters swear that spring is not far behind, despite the still freezing temps and continuous snowfall.  And though we may feel otherwise (rightfully so having suffered through a brutal winter), winter will eventually come to an end and before you know it it will be time to reveal that new spring wardrobe.  As with every spring season, pastels are having their moment, in particular the color mint.  A refreshing member of the pastel family, this cool cousin of turquoise will wake up your wardrobe this spring. Not sure if the color compliments your skin tone or uncertain of what to wear with it?  Keep reading for my crash color course.

WHY I LOVE IT:

Just as mint flavor gives your mouth that just-brushed feeling, the color (a mix of light blue and pale yellow) adds zest to everyday basics and accessories too.

HOW TO WEAR IT:

Take a cue from Rochas who played up the shade's sprightly spirit with a shimmery dress and a sheer crystal-studded top.  Or emphasize the hue's softer side with a flirty, but ladylike shorts set in a pretty floral pattern.

Mint is extremely versatile and plays well with dark neutrals like grey and navy, which give a mint hue an office-friendly attitude.  Feeling more adventurous? Try it with more striking tones, like peach and deep rosy red.
