The Spring season brings certain fashion challenges – warming weather makes thick, heavy fabrics impractical, yet seasonal coolness prevents us from donning our summer wardrobe. Layering is key during this transitional period and one of the best ways to layer is with one of this season’s hottest trend items: the Trench Coat.
The trench is to Spring as the turtleneck is to Fall, for it has long been a wardrobe staple. Classic trench cuts and simple colors can be carried through all seasons, years, weather types, and occasions and can easily provide polish and sophistication to any outfit.
Classic trenches are traditionally a double-breasted cut in neutrals like khaki, black or white. But this season, designers like Burberry, have put a modern twist on the trench by including jewel tones, metallics, peplum bottoms, ombre designs and bold prints in their 2013 Prorsum Spring collection.
Our seven day forecast is drenched in 50-degree weather, but lurking around its corner are those pesky April showers. So before you sigh at Mother Nature’s impending wrath, embrace her- the outlook is clearer than you think. Thanks to Burberry, the forecast this season is one of sunny trenches that are bright enough to lift your dreary morning commute, but stylish enough to keep you singing in the rain. Check out some of my favorite trench coats from Burberry this Spring- they will have you praying for rain and make your meteorologist proud.
