Become a Wrap Star

Fashion experts are proclaiming that 2013 is the year of the scarf, as runways from Marc Jacobs, Louis Vuitton, Ralph Lauren and other prominent designers turned to Spring scarves for warm-weather inspiration. The best part of this trend? There’s about a hundred things you can do with a Spring scarf.  Below are three ways to wear this season's new "it" accessory:

1.) Bracelet: A new way to style some “arm candy.” Skip the bangles and wrap a colorful scarf around your wrist.

2.) Rosette: Pretty and easy to tie, the rosette works well with blazers, jackets and cardigans.

3.) Head scarf: There is no such thing as a bag hair day with a great scarf in your closet.  One part old Hollywood glam, one part East Village cool- these chic scarves for hair ruled the Spring runways from Marc Jacobs to Dolce & Gabana.

Patent Pending

Dior

Patent leather is arguably the sexiest material out there. Something about this slick and shiny exterior screams daring and provocative. The season's most lust-worthy pieces include high gloss patent leather accessories that sparkle.  Add the magnetism of a patent belt, bag or stiletto heel to your look and take a walk on the wild side this Spring.

Texture to the Max- Jacquard

This season everyone is buzzing about texture, specifically Jacquard.  So what exactly is jacquard?  It refers to fabrics with intricately woven patterns and colors.  Some varieties include brocade and damask, both of which are generally more popular during the fall and winter seasons.  But for Spring 2013, these luxe, intricate threads lightened up and went metallic, for a modern take on this antique textile.
You can keep it traditional with black and gold or tone on tone metallic florals. Try investing in a jacquard jacket to wear with a pencil skirt at work and skinny jeans over the weekend. I love jacquard, especially for evening wear, because these dresses typically have a bit of weight and heft to them, which helps smooth the lines of the silhouette.
Just one piece of jacquard will do. Or stick with a tonal pattern. A modern twist with neons and mix of floral patterns gives jacquard an updated look.  Be sure not to go overboard and pattern it up from head to toe. You don’t want to end up looking like a Victorian curtain.

Eyecatching Eyelet

Ashley Tisdale in Rebecca Minkoff

.
There is something so fresh and springy about a look filled with crisp white pieces and white eyelet, in particular, has always been a springtime favorite of mine! Luckily, eyelet just so happens to be one of the biggest trends gracing the runways for Spring 2013.  Designers such as Alice + Olivia, Burberry, Trina Turk and Rachel Roy incorporated the delicate fabric into their collections. From eyelet lace dresses, to sheer overlay and coats, this trend is definitely making a big hit for this season.  While I probably won’t be rockin’ these high end pieces in my every day life, luckily there is no shortage of darling eyelet pieces from me to choose from out there in the shoposphere.
Not quite as delicate as lace, eyelet brings a feminine touch to shorts, bikinis, and even trench coats. There’s something breezy and relaxed yet still structured about eyelet patterns, and below you will see some of my favorite ways to wear them this Spring.  While white is a classic, I particularly like more colorful eyelet looks. It's okay if you prefer the classic look because wearing eyelet is one way to add interest to your look and keep it from being boring.
If you dig an edgier look, go for an eyelet blazer and leather skinnies or an eyelet tank or tee paired with colored denim and ankle strap sandals! Don’t forget to pile on the baubles. It doesn’t get much edgier than an armful of studs and spikes. No matter which eyelet piece you set your sights on, it’s sure to make the guys swoon this Spring!
