Crisp White Looks for Spring

Left to Right:  Carolina Herrera, Derek Lam, Carolina Herrera

In the fashion world, white never goes away...even when (thankfully) there is no snow.  For spring 2014 we are seeing white on top of white on top of white.  The standout shade was a hit on the catwalk with models dressed from head to toe in the crisp color. White was a major theme at 3.1 Phillip Lim, Thakoon, Derek Lam, Carolina Herrera, Ralph Rucci, Victoria Beckham and more. Despite the classic color scheme, the fashion forward cuts of these pieces are what made them standout from the rest.

How do you make the trend work for you? Try to mix textures and layers when wearing head to toe of any one color. The collections this season include textures from techno finishes to classic cottons and transparent silks. Combining different weights, such as white lace or chiffon, and evening wear weaves, such as satin, are what make this look eye-catching. Be sure to keep colors and shapes bold for weekend wear and clean for layering to work.  Personally, I love mixing in metallics with these streamlined looks for a little extra punch!
