Comfortably Chic: Linen Looks for Summer

Summer is almost here and what better way to welcome the warmer temps then with cool linen looks that are as comfortable as they are chic. Since linen allows the body to breathe, this exotic fabric is befitting for warm climates and with proper care, it can be a timelessly stylish wardrobe staple. Best of all- with the right kind of accessories, the classic, no frills linen silhouette can be completely transformed to something unconventional.

If you thought linen was dull, boring, or predominantly a men’s fashion — I'm here to change your mindset. Nowadays, linens are no longer limited to soft, pastel shades for they now come in a variety of bold prints, colors and textures.  Plus, for a more dramatic effect, you can team them with black and white solids. It’s not only the comfort they provide but also their versatility that makes these fabrics a summer fashion staple.  From the little black evening dress to casual resort wear, linen is at home in virtually any setting.  Check out the looks of other style bloggers below for all the ways this comfortably chic fabric can be worn.

Classic: Invest in a neon linen sheath dress and there’s a lot you can do.  Accessorize with a crisp, white blazer and glossy leather pumps for work. Out of the office, whether for a party or a picnic, it can be the perfect go-to outfit! Just dress it up with strappy sandals, simple gold bangle bracelets and a bold clutch.

Experimental: Get an edgy look by sporting the highlight of summer — the jumpsuit — all in linen. A bright-colored scarf or statement pendant can complete the look.

Elegant: Wear a black linen dress with billowy sleeves, oversized sunglasses, and a chain link shoulder bag for an elegant take on this normally casually look.

Trendy: Team your linen jacket with cuffed pants and lace up oxfords for a relaxed, city chic look.

Romantic:  Pair a white linen maxi with a wooden bangle bracelet and some sandals with wood or cork heels in nude tones for a feminine flair.  Though simple, this look is stylish, and seasonal.

Polished:  Wear a linen pencil skirt with a ruffled tank; then throw in a classic nude pump and neutral tote for a look that's sophisticated, but sexy.

Embellished: For a more glamorous look, try linen that is embroidered with sequins or Swarovski crystal.

Weekend: Try a bold linen short suit, matched with a nautical stripe top and retro mirrored frames for a dressy look.  Or for a more laidback, casual look, pair a brightly colored solid linen short with a snakeskin print top and a classic ankle strap heel.
