Plaids ruled the fall runways, but gingham's taking the lead for spring- which makes sense given it's DNA in picnic accessories. These cross-hatched lines are more tame than usual though- making a statement on a blanket coat at Oscar de la Renta, on a belted top and matching headband at Derek Lam and- on the most romantic iteration- a candy-colored sweater at Balmain.
